Profile
Dr Payal Mukherjee is an Adult and Paediatric ENT Surgeon with special skills in advanced ear surgery. Following her ENT training in Sydney, she attained further subspecialty post fellowship training in Otology, Cochlear Implantation and Lateral Skull Base Surgery in Oxford and London. She is a Senior Lecturer of Surgery at The University of Sydney and the academic lead for ENT research at the RPA Institute of Academic Surgery. She is an executive member of the NSW regional committee of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She is a committee member of a research group called the Meniere's research fund, a fund of the Sydney Medical School. More information is available at www.menieresresearchaustralia.org As well as treating general ENT diseases such as glue ears, tonsillitis, snoring and rhinosinusitis, her special expertise include hearing and balance disorders such as Meniere's disease, Otosclerosis, Vestibular Schwannoma, Cochlear Implantation and Chronic Ear diseases. She is also trained in middle ear endoscopy.
Research
Dr Mukherjee is involved in both basic science and clinical research. Her basic science work is based primarily at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney in affiliation with the School of Psychology, Australian Centre of Microscopy and Microanalysis and the Brain and Mind Research Institute. She is also passionate about teaching and education of students. She is a clinical tutor at the Sydney Adventist Hospital Medical School.
