Prostate Cancer Awareness Month: Spotlight
We spoke to Prostate Cancer Patient Navigators Danielle & Levina about Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, services at the San and their roles in caring for our patients.
Sydney Adventist Hospital, affectionately known as ‘the San’, has been leading the way in whole-person health since 1903. Today, we’re NSW’s largest private hospital, providing a comprehensive range of acute surgical, medical and obstetric care. At the heart of everything we do: an unwavering commitment to providing remarkable care.
This year, Sydney Adventist Hospital marks a 120-year milestone of delivering whole-person health to this community. Our existence would not have been possible without the progressive spirit of a number of innovative leaders. From their stories, we learn how, despite obstacles, these leaders were able to bring people together, to enact change- ultimately transforming the state of healthcare in NSW for the better.
The San has an ongoing commitment to the education and training of healthcare professionals – and as a teaching hospital, we also invest heavily in medical research through affiliations with major tertiary education institutions. We are proud to have forged a strong academic partnership with Australian National University, and our key partner in nursing education is Avondale University, whose students are able to study and live on our campus.
In 2020, Adventist HealthCare welcomed ELIA Wellness to the family. A registered charity dedicated to promoting good health, ELIA empowers the community to whole-person health, healing and hope, transforming lives in the process. ELIA stands for ‘Empower Lifestyle Innovation Advocates’ and their initiatives include health education resources and fitness programs. The evidence-based ELIA Lifestyle Medicine Centre at the San is aimed at tackling chronic diseases.
