Gynaecology

A gynaecologist treats the overall health of their female patients, treating problems and diseases of the female reproductive system such as breast and hormonal problems, urinary tract and pelvic disorders, and cancer of the cervix. Gynaecologists can be obstetricians as well, or they could have further specialised in gynaecological surgery, including oncology treatment.

Our Service

If medicine or lifestyle changes do not help your condition, your doctor may suggest surgery, and learning about all your surgical options can help you make the best decision for your situation. Gynaecological surgery can be performed using open surgery (through one large incision) or minimally invasive surgery (through a few small incisions). Minimally invasive surgery can be performed using traditional laparoscopy or robotic-assisted da Vinci surgery.

If you are coming to Sydney Adventist Hospital for surgery you may find the information in our Gynaecological Surgery Booklet helpful.
