Graduate Programs

Our New Graduate Programs offer comprehensive support and guidance for nurses and midwives to transition from academia to clinical practice.

Sydney Adventist Hospital offers a 12 month program for Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Registered Midwives with rotations through three clinical areas.

Commencing in 2019 AHCL will be offering a flexible (120 hour) New Graduate Nurse Program.

New Graduates will be contracted to work 15 shifts over a rostered 4 week period.  The new flexible program will allow grads to gently transition into the Registered Nurse role and shift work.
Graduates will have an opportunity to work extra shifts when available to increase their hours.

The San is committed to care for all staff and encouraging a work life balance.  Our New Graduate Program allows nurses rotate through three clinical areas and includes:

  • Extensive range of ward and specialised areas available to broaden your experience
  • Clinical skill based development with study days built into your program
  • An individually tailored Professional Recognition Program offering support and opportunity for ongoing career development
  • Great long term career prospects

The twelve (12) month, fulltime, Perioperative Graduate Nurse Program consists of three stages within the perioperative environment as an instrument and circulating nurse (scrub/scout) role.

  • Stage One: Introduction to circulating nurse role
  • Stage Two: Transition to the instrument nurse role
  • Stage Three: Development in all surgical specialties

The Perioperative Graduate Nurse Program also offers the opportunity for graduate nurses to complete the Clinical Accreditation Program in partnership with the University of Technology Sydney where the graduate nurse on completion will gain six (6) credit points towards a Post Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing.

The San College of Education, a registered training organisation, is also located on site offering an extensive range of nationally recognised certificate programs to San employees, corporate clients and community members.
