Profile

Philip Le Page is a specialist Upper Gastrointestinal and General surgeon. He grew up in Sydney and graduated with M.B.B.S. from Melbourne University in 2001 and undertook his early surgical training at the Royal Melbourne (RMH) and Austin Hospitals in Melbourne, both with highly regarded Upper GIT Surgery Units. He was the Trainees Representative to RMH for the Royal College of Surgeons. He received his FRACS in General Surgery in 2010. He undertook further subspecialty training with the Australian and New Zealand Gastro Oesophageal Surgical Association (ANZGOSA), at St.Vincent's and Concord Hospitals in Sydney followed by an overseas placement at the Royal lnfirmary in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. He has undergraduate and postgraduate teaching interests, having received an honorary Fellowship in Anatomy at Melbourne University and is an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer with Notre Dame University. Recently he has worked as the Flying Surgeon with the Royal Flying doctor Service, and has since been accredited with the Sydney Adventist and Mater Hospitals. His interests lie in laparoscopic upper GIT surgery, including hiatus hernia, reflux, gallstones, hernias and splenectomy, obesity surgery, oesophageal/stomach cancer and benign surgery, and also in all general surgery and diagnostic/interventional endoscopy.

Research

Philip Le Page's research interests cover each area of his speciality, both to add to current knowledge and to keep abreast of advances. His publications reflect this and ongoing research is looking into oesophageal and gastric cancer, hiatus hernias and reflux, gallstones, abdominal hernias and obesity surgery. Predominantly this research is of a clinical nature.
