Profile

Dr Donald Cawthorne completed both undergraduate and post-graduate training in Sydney, undertaking his medical degree at the University of Sydney. During training he gained experience across multiple centres, including several level 1 trauma hospitals (Royal North Shore, Westmead and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital) and 18 months of elective orthopaedic surgery at Sydney Adventist Hospital, The Mater and Northern Beaches hospitals, with a focus on Hip and Knee Surgery. In 2018 he was selected to undertake 6 months of specialty surgical training in the United States, at Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland, Oregon.

On completion of his Orthopaedic training, Dr Cawthorne undertook further sub-specialty training, and attained an Australian Orthopaedic Association accredited fellowship in Lower Limb surgery, with a focus on Robotic Hip and Knee Replacements.

He is accredited at Sydney Adventist Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital and Armidale Private Hospitals with a specialist interest in Robotic Hip and Knee Surgery, Soft Tissue Knee Injuries and Orthopaedic Trauma/Fracture management.

Research

Dr Cawthorne has authored and contributed to several research papers published in surgical journals and presented at State, National and International conferences. These include the Australian Annual Scientific Meeting and the World Congress of Physical Therapy in Singapore.
