Dr Akhil Gupta is a Staff Specialist in the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at Blacktown Hospital and Obstetric Physician with their Pregnancy Service. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at Sydney Adventist Hospital and Ryde Hospital with an Honorary appointment at Campbelltown Hospital where he conducts clinical research for Western Sydney University’s School of Medicine.

As an obstetric physician, Dr Gupta takes a special interest in maternal, placental and fetal medicine. He is committed to optimising pregnancy outcomes for women with diabetes, thyroid disorders, hypertension and many other medical conditions.

Dr Gupta began his career in Liverpool Hospital as a junior medical officer. He was first awarded fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in 2017, having trained at Royal North Shore Hospital and Campbelltown Hospital (NSW) in General Medicine. He then completed Endocrinology specialist training at Royal Darwin Hospital (NT) and Princess Alexandra Hospital (QLD). Obstetric Physician training at Flinders Medical Centre (SA) was recognized with a Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (SOMANZ) Certificate.

Dr Gupta's PhD investigates the link between medical challenges during pregnancy and the health of both mother and child later in their lives. Aside from his pregnancy interest, he has completed a Master of Medicine in Metabolic Health from the University of Sydney, with years of experience incorporating a holistic approach to weight management, diabetes and insulin resistance. Dr Gupta is available to see patients in clinic at our Wahroonga rooms for all endocrine diseases affecting the adrenal, pituitary, bone health, reproductive health and others.

He has presented complex cases at national scientific conferences and published articles with peer-reviewed journals. He attends diabetes, endocrinology and obstetric meetings annually, keeping up-to-date with best evidence-based practice.
