The San goes PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness month

On 1 October, doctors, nurses and staff at Sydney Adventist Hospital gathered on the front lawn to launch the Feel – Act – Know campaign, showing their unity and support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Dressed in a sea of pink, from scrubs to polo shirts provided by the San Foundation, the group stood together in support against a backdrop of pink breast cancer ribbons. The event began with speeches from CEO Brett Goods, San Specialist Dr Sandra Krishnan and Foundation Managing Director Judy Tanna, who each shared their insights on the importance of breast health and the role of community in supporting those affected by cancer.

A range of meaningful activities followed, inviting attendees to participate in the campaign in a personal way. Staff and visitors were encouraged to fill out an “I’m going pink for” card in honour of a loved one, with the cards now displayed in the cafeteria as a visual reminder of the cause throughout October. Attendees also had the opportunity to make a personal pledge by signing the pink ribbon, committing themselves to book a breast check before the end of the month.

The wider hospital community was later invited to connect with the dedicated teams across San Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, Cancer Support Centre and San GP Centre who deliver outstanding breast care every day. This provided a valuable opportunity to learn more about the expertise and comprehensive support available to patients.

This launch event is one of several activities being held throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Together they form part of a broader campaign designed to empower people to understand their bodies, recognise any changes early and prioritise regular screening as an essential part of protecting their health.
