Visionaries of the San honoured at Homecoming
San Homecoming this year celebrated the 120-year history of the hospital and especially honoured nursing graduates of 1943, 1953, 1963, 1973, 1983, 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2013.
Two citations were awarded in recognition of longstanding and exceptional service at the hospital: Mr Maurie Ibbott and Mrs Diana Martin. Four alumni were honoured: Daphne Misbrenner (1963), Thelma Woods (1953), Rose-Marie Radley AM (1953), and Enid Webster (1943).
“The San’s existence would not have been possible without the innovative and progressive spirit of our visionary leaders,” said San CEO Brett Goods. “From their stories we learn how – in spite of obstacles – they were able to bring people together to enact progressive change and ultimately transform the state of healthcare in NSW and further afield.”
A special part of the Homecoming service was the inaugural presentation of the ‘Visionaries of the San’ video, which featured Dr Bert Clifford, Ms Rose-Marie Radley AM, and Mrs Pam Ludowici.
