Pep in the step of San Steppers in the City2Surf

It may have begun under grey skies, but the mood was anything but gloomy for the world’s largest fun run.

22 San Steppers, from Sydney Adventist Hospital, lined up to raise their heart rates for San Foundation in the 2023 City2Surf.

Their energy was high as they began the annual race from Sydney’s CBD to Bondi Beach, along with thousands of other competitors who had signed up.

Snaking their way through the eastern suburbs, by early afternoon many of the San steppers had danced, strolled or jogged their way over the finish line.

Now in its 53rd year, close to 80,000 people gathered to take part in the 14km event, after several years of disruptions due to COVID-19.

Overall, the efforts of the San Steppers raised over $15,000, a remarkable achievement that will contribute significantly to supporting the vital services and programs provided by San Foundation.

“It was great to walk side by side with staff members from so many different parts of the hospital… physicians and nurses walking alongside hospital executives, all stepping up to support our colleagues providing world class care to cancer patients at the San.  We are planning for an even bigger team next year, and are hoping more staff members are keen to sign up to be a San Stepper next year,” said Judy Tanna, San Foundation Managing Director.
