San Fun Run participant Keiran Tall makes history

Several hundred runners including local politicians, health experts and people from the community participated in San Run for Life 2017.

On a cloudy day perfect for running, the fun run included a 5km walk/run and a 10km run.

Hornsby Mayor Phillip Ruddock kick started the 5 km race that included NSW Minister Paul Fletcher and local MPs Alistair Henskens and Matt Kean.

The star of the event was the young runner Kieren Tall, who made history by taking out the men’s 10km and 5km events on the same day. Kieren clocked 33 minutes and 51 seconds for the 10km and only 17 minutes nine seconds for the 5km run a short time later.

In women’s category, Claire Monk was the first one to cross the finish line in 5km race and clocked 24 minutes and 14 seconds while Anna Heath clocked 44 minutes and 7 seconds to come first in the 10km race.

This year San Foundation raised funds for the new San Rehabilitation Unit which aims to assist patients with their recovery and offers a complete circle of care from pre-admission to post-rehabilitation.

San Rehab team also participated in the event and included San Maternity Director Michelle McKenzie, Clinical Director of San Rehabilitation Centre Dr Shari Parker, San Rehabilitation Services Nursing Unit Manager Jodie Dominey, Assistant Director San Allied Health Ronelle Canavan, Director Support Services Carol Zeuschner and San Wardsmen Manager Narelle Clifton.

Thanks to all the sponsors and volunteers for their support!
