Profile
Dr Katia Foresti-Zubaran is a consultant psychiatrist and specialized in the field of Old Age Psychiatry. Dr Foresti-Zubaran graduated at the University of Caxias do Sul, a well-established educational institution in Southern Brazil. Following a period of training at the Washington University Hospital in St Louis (USA), Dr Foresti-Zubaran has obtained training in psychiatry in key mental health services in Sydney, including Nepean, Cumberland, Westmead and Hornsby Hospital.
Dr Katia Foresti-Zubaran completed her psychiatric training in the Northern Sydney Local Health District towards the Fellowship of the RANZCP. She also holds a Certificate of Advanced Training in Old Age Psychiatry. Dr Foresti Zubaran has obtained additional postgraduate qualifications in psychiatry, including a Master of Psychiatric Medicine by the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI).
Research
Dr Foresti-Zubaran published more than 20 publications in the areas of perinatal mental health, addictive disorders, transcultural psychiatry and quality of life. Dr Foresti-Zubaran has special interest in the areas of mood and anxiety disorders, cognitive impairment, psychosis and behavioural problems in dementia.
