Paediatric Sleep Disorders
The San Children’s Sleep Disorders Unit is a consultatory and investigative facility available to patients from birth until school-leaving age. Patients and their families have an initial consultation and a sleep investigation (overnight polysomnography) is arranged if indicated. All paediatric sleep disorders are comprehensively covered by this service.
Common disorders in children and infants include:
Snoring / Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
Insomnia and Circadian Rhythm Disturbance
Family history or high risk of Sudden Infant Death (SIDS)
Parasomnias including night terrors, teeth grinding, sleep walking, sleep talking, head banging, body rocking, and enuresis
Behavioural Disorders related to Sleep
Periodic Leg Movements in Sleep/Restless Legs Syndrome
Nocturnal Respiratory Failure
Chronic Lung disease
Nightmares / Recurrent Frightened Wakenings
Bedtime refusal / Poor sleep hygiene
A doctor’s referral is required for consultation. Polysomnography is charged at the scheduled fee.
The San Children’s Sleep Disorders Unit is located in a purpose-built location on Level 3 of the Kress Building at Sydney Adventist Hospital.
