Educating future generations of healthcare professionals
Sydney Adventist Hospital is a Teaching Hospital of the University of Sydney Medical School and the Avondale College of Higher Education Faculty of Nursing. The Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School is the first private Clinical School in NSW. The SAH Clinical Education Centre trains medical, nursing and allied health students together in the one setting to embed our multidisciplinary approach which we know improves patient outcomes.
Research is a vital element in pursuing constant improvement and clinical quality and one of the strengths of the San Prostate Centre. Sydney Adventist Hospital is committed to providing an environment which nurtures research opportunities for our clinicians. Many of our Prostate Specialists are heavily involved in published research as well as teaching appointments, and the learning environment they create has a positive flow-on effect for all those involved in the Prostate Centre.
The San Clinical Trials Unit aims to provide all Oncology patients treated at Sydney Adventist Hospital the best possible treatment outcomes by offering the opportunity to participate in the most current treatment options available in the field of medical oncology.
The Australasian Research Institute (ARI) at the Sydney Adventist Hospital was established to facilitate, coordinate and fund innovative and developmental research within the Adventist Healthcare setting.
Clinical Nurse Consultants in Operating Theatres
At Sydney Adventist Hospital we have a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) in Urology; a Registered Nurse who has responsibility to ensure that our Urology service is focused on patient safety, training and education for the team, and has the equipment available to continue to grow and develop at Sydney Adventist Hospital.
The CNC works within a multidisciplinary team and reports operationally to the Operating Theatre Manager. They provide expert clinical nursing advice to the members of the multidisciplinary team, AMOs, patients, carers and other health care professionals. The CNC develops, facilitates, implements and evaluates business proposals, care management plans and guidelines for patients with complex care needs in collaboration with other relevant providers. The role involves provision of direct nursing care in the perioperative environment, and strategic business direction for the Hospital.
