San Integrated Cancer Centre completion celebrated

The Centre provides cancer patients with easy, centralised access to the range of services they need to deal with the complex disease of cancer.

Critical to its completion was funding raised through a campaign by the San Foundation and supported by generous donors.

The opening event was attended by numerous donors, medical and nursing staff and dignitaries including Federal Member of Parliament Paul Fletcher, State Members Jonathon O'Dea, Matt Kean and Alister Henskens, and Ku-ring-gai Mayor Jennifer Anderson.

Several of the MP's shared their personal experiences of cancer and appreciation for the expertise and commitment of all involved in cancer care at the San.

Patient Tanya Manwaring spoke about her very personal and moving cancer journey and how San staff have helped her cope. See the video on the right that was shown during the ceremony featuring Tanya, and providing patient and doctor perspectives on the integration of cancer services at the San.

Head of San Cancer Services Associate Professor Gavin Marx shared his appreciation for all involved in driving the campaign for the Centre including former CEO Dr Leon Clark and the Foundation.
