Gastrointestinal (GI)

Sydney Adventist Hospital has over 40 specialists with expertise to provide a high level of care and management for all gastrointestinal disorders. Accredited gastrointestinal specialists operate in the following fields:


The hospital provides our specialists with leading-edge facilities and technology to assist with diagnosis and treatment. Our advanced radiology, theatres and day surgery units provide our specialists with the latest equipment for non-surgical and surgical techniques including the da Vinci robot. For patients who require intensive care, Sydney Adventist Hospital’s new intensive care unit is one of the most advanced in NSW.

The San is known for its unique and exceptional care – it’s part of the fabric of the San. We attract highly skilled and qualified Specialists and Registrars, and they work hand in hand with our very experienced nursing teams. Maintaining a high quality of nursing and clinical staff is vital to the care of our patients. The San boasts a very loyal and committed nursing team.   • San Radiology is at the forefront of imaging innovation, and boasts a suite of new generation imaging modalities and software to provide a world-class imaging service
  • San Pathology (operated by Douglass Hanly Moir) offers a comprehensive range of pathology services on-site
  • Northern Nuclear Medicine offers a range of services specifically for gastrointestinal patients.

  • Nutrition services, including dietary treatment and management of:
    • Food allergies and intolerances including but not limited to FODMAP (fermentable oligiosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols) sensitivities
    • Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhoea, constipation, bloating and malabsorption
  • Stomal Therapy – trained stomal therapists providing support to inpatients and outpatients
