Advanced Life Support - Adult

Target Audience: Current practicing clinicians in critical areas. Limited places available. Priority for SAH staff working in critical areas.

Prerequisites: 

  • Compulsory pre reading package – this will be sent to you upon enrolment
  • Currently competent in basic life support skills (assessed in the past twelve months) and rhythm recognition
  • AHCL staff must complete Between the Flags – Deteriorating patient eLearning – Adult Patients and be competent in rhythm recognition

Location: ICU Conference Room Level 7 – Clark Tower

Course Content: Based on Australian Resuscitation Council’s (ARC) guidelines.  Workshop includes hands on skill stations and scenario based learning.

Certification: Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. 

Course Fee: $295.00 inc GST     SAH Staff $70.00 inc GST

Lunch is included

N.B: External attendees requiring a certificate of competence should discuss with trainer on the day.  There will be a separate fee of $75.00 inc GST.

Target Audience: Current practicing clinicians working in critical areas.  Also suitable for staff in non-critical areas interested in advanced airway management.

Prerequisite: AHCL Staff must complete Between the Flags – Deteriorating Patient eLearning – Adult Patients if not already completed

Assess Competence Workshop

Enrolled Nursing

SAH Clinical Component Diploma of Nursing

Target Audience: Diploma of Nursing students enrolled with Meadowbank TAFE

Prerequisites: Higher School Certificate or Certificate III qualification; First Aid Certificate; Literacy and numeracy tests; National Police check; Immunisation records; Interviews will be held at Meadowbank TAFE.

Location: Meadowbank TAFE and Sydney Adventist Hospital

Course Content: Students will be required to fulfil specific course objectives and complete the minimum number of clinical hours while working under supervision. On completion students will be eligible to apply for registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). All students registered will be offered an interview with the potential to be accepted into the SAH graduate nurse program.

Leaders Intervention Skills Workshop (LIS)

Target Audience:  AHCL Leadership (Mandatory Training)

Content: This is the final workshop in the Promoting Professional Accountability series, and follows on from the Leading Reliability Improvement for Safer Health Care (LRISH) workshop held last year. This workshop is only available to Leadership group.

Re-Entry Course For RN's

Target Audience: The Re-entry Program is specifically tailored for Registered Nurses returning to the Acute Care nursing environment.

This program is open to eligible nurses previously registered in Australia who have not practiced within the last five years, but whose time away from the profession does not exceed 10 years.

Prerequisite: Letter of Referral for Re-entry (AHPRA)

Course Content:  Each seminar will be constructed around a specific theme. Possible topics may include but are not limited to lower limb compression, pressure injury, surgical site infection, traumatic wounds and skin tears.
